Water Bluebell

 This is the water version's of a petunia. It has beautiful, bright flowers that are a purple lavender color. The flowers are 1-2 inches in size, therefore they make quite a statement in this small plant. These plants tend to be 2-3 feet in height and 24 inches wide. The dwarf version is usually 10 inches in height and 12 inches wide but they continue to sport the same size blooms. There leaves are actually stacked. Bluebells make a perfect addition to your water feature because they almost always have their flowers blooming, thus giving you the perfect pop of color. Another plus with bluebells is that instead of dying right away in the fall, their foliage turns a deep burgundy color. Rainbow Dace   

The fish are super bright in color. They have purple and blue on their sides, plus they flash around bright red fins. All of this color is packed into a 3 1/2 inch size fish. These fish can live in the winter so that stress is off your shoulder and they are compatible with both koi and goldfish. A really interesting thing about these fish is that they have metallic bodies so they add a little bling to your water feature.

Taro  

Taro, also known as Elephant Ears are the perfect summer water plant. They are originally from the Asia tropics so they can handle the high humid, heat of Missouri Augusts. These plants, however, are not fans of full sun (but who is?) as they will thrive and get bigger if they are not exposed to the afternoon sun. Taro plants can reach a height of 2-6 feet and a width of 2-4 feet. As you probably know these plants have giant elephant ear leaves, which gives your water feature the perfect hint of the tropics. These plants also make a great backdrop for other water plants.  Taro plants come in many different colors. There is the black leaved ones, known as 'Black Magic', variegated leaves, red stemmed ones, and then the plain green and others. Large Sarassa

Sarassas bring a beautiful pop of red to your water garden. They have a dazzling white base with deep lipstick red spots on them. It is like looking at little rubies in your water garden.  A great thing about these fish is that as they grow in size and age their red spots stay the same brilliant red. Which is why these are the perfect fish to have in a larger size because not only will the become the stars of your water feature, they will also have the same bright coloring. Sarassas have a very similar body shape as shubunkins and comets so they will look great together in a water garden. Nature's Beauty Watergardens now has 5-7 inch Sarassas available.

Cannas 

As many of us are here, smack dab in the middle of the United States during the hottest times of summer, a lot of us would love to be in the beautiful, bright tropics, bathing in sunlight (myself included).  Well the best we can really get is to bring a little bit of the tropics to our backyard and these cannas will do just that. They have huge, beautiful leaves that can be a yellow-green, deep green, or a pure maroon red. Their flowers make you feel like you stepped into Hawaii. The colors vary from a bright canary yellow, deep sunset orange, to a crimson red. These flowers will start to bloom in midsummer and will continue up until frost.
